Taliaferro County Records
Taliaferro County Court House. Taliaferro (pronounced "Tol-i-ver") County was established in 1825 by an Act of the General Assembly and was taken from portions of Greene, Hancock, Oglethorpe, Warren, and Wilkes counties. It was named after Colonel Benjamin Taliaferro, Revolutionary War hero; served in the US House of Representatives from 1799 to 1802. Crawfordville is the county seat. Early Settlers: John Lightfoot, Benjamin Jones Sr., Henry Dewberry, David Lockett, Charles Beazley, Joel Terrell, John L. Bird, John Perkins, William Janes, General Aaron Gruer, Eli Hart, John Veazey.

Talbot County Court House. Talbot County was created from Muscogee County on Dec. 14, 1827 by an Act of the General Assembly;vin 1852, part of Talbot County was used to form Taylor County. Also research Muscogee County. Early Settlers: William Johnston, Appleton Justice, Joseph Osgood, Daniel McNeil, Berry Mitchell, William Adams, James Holcomb, William Shipp, William Sears, Henry Snellings, Abraham Rush, Stephen Reeves, Charles S. Pace, Penelope Peddy, Sandfair Whitehurst, Seabon Webster, Samuel Wilson, Allen Walker, John Towns, George Taylor, William Teals.
Stewart County Court House.Stewart County was created from Randolph County in 1830 Later, portions of Stewart County were used to create Quitman County in 1858. County seat: Lumpkin, Georgia. Early Settlers: Sampson L. Lampkin, county surveyor; Edward Studevant, coroner; Thomas R. Mangham, clerk of the superior court, Jonathan F. Bridges, sheriff; Joseph Williams; Sampson Bell; William C. Grimmer; Robert Applewhite: and H. M. Jenkins. 



Towns County was created in 1856 from portions of Union and Rabun Counties. It was named after Governor George Washington Bonaparte Towns. County seat: Hiawassee, Georgia.
